A reminder today of why many of us will not be sorry to see the Memorial Ground built on.

Another rowdy, disruptive football crowd on the Gloucester Rd.   >:(

I saw the 'opening tomorrow' sign yesterday, so I was going to pop in this morning for a second breakfast before opening my shop: but they didn't open until 10 so I missed out on being a first customer.  :(

I tried to phone, but they didn't answer...I might welcome them next time I'm passing.

I won't mention GR Ltd; it doesn't want us, at this end of the road.   :(

I've seen many local businesses go in the 20 years I've had my shop.  Happily, it is rarely long before a new one is in the premises.
This has just occurred again in the block opposite - and it's a good spot for a shop.  High visibility, with thousands of cars and buses passing daily.
But....why not have a sign saying what the shop sells?  'Moodles' has opened, and I wish them all good fortune.  But that's all the sign says - just the name.  I can't tell what they sell, and with the security shutter down I can't see what they sell.

Huge promotional opportunity lost.   :'(

I think this is one way that this forum could benefit all of the traders if they all got on board. Being able to chat about local issues like this and making others aware of issues they might not have experienced yet, or people they need to watch out for might help.

Yes, a forum can be very useful.

I don't hold out much hope for it if the plan to divide the road goes ahead, though.

The GRTA should be able to back you up on this.  If the BID goes ahead, you could ask to get such types banned from the BID area!   ;D

Fran, I sympathise.  We all get this, in retail, and shops with only one attendant seem to get it more.

It's likely that being a woman you get even more.

Tell the police about your urinator, (the word used in context here, rather than the historical usage!) even though you don't have proof.

I suggest a security camera with recording, and once you have that working don't hesitate to ask people to leave, firmly, if you don't want them in the shop. They are not customers, probably never will be.  Even if they were, the customer isn't always right.

Is there someone nearby you can call, to give you backup when you need it?  Anyone else will do, but I have to say a firm man would be best.

Some of the members here are identifiable by their forum names...but there are many who are not.

I think it would be very useful if people either chose forum names that identified their business, or put their business name in their profile.
It would be good to know who we are talking to.

Missed it.   :'(

A day as a rolling 24-hr period, or a day starting at 1 second past midnight?

Oh well.  It's endless fun, conjecturing.  Not many people in the shop on such a cold day, so I get bored easily.   :D

27 in 53 minutes would be great, but I fear it was a glitch.   :(

Who is online after midnight?

14
At 12.53 am...  I suspect it was a glitch, or spiders.  It certainly wasn't genuine activity.

Yes, indeed, Fran.

As someone who does most of my business online, I am very well aware of the advantages of online communication.  The possibilities for using the internet to the overall benefit of all of us GR traders, are boundless.

All it takes is imagination.   :)
